A leadership program for young women, grades 8-12
Our Mission
The Avenue aims to prepare the next generation of women leaders to be agents of sustainable and positive change. We do so by offering an educational framework that integrates personal and professional development. We aim to be a trusted resource to families in their role as primary educators of their children.
Our Vision
We believe that young women have a unique and fundamental role in transforming the world for the good. We believe that all young women can discover their potential to bring about positive change as an avenue to living a truly flourishing life. We affirm each one in her efforts to find and live out her unique purpose within her family, friendships,
profession, and society.
Our Values
Our foundational principles are based on a Christian understanding of the human person and include the following values:
-
The innate dignity of every human person and sacredness of every human life
-
Recognizing and cherishing truth, goodness, beauty
-
The pivotal role of marriage, family, and motherhood in society
-
Leadership as responsibility and service for others
-
Self-knowledge, self-esteem, and self-mastery
-
Friendship with family, classmates, and God
Our Program
The Avenue offers cultural seminars, individual mentoring, discussion forums, and hands-on activities, as well as interactive career and skills development presentations. The program provides an environment free from social pressure, where participants can develop lasting friendships.
The Avenue is hosted by Highland Study Center, which offers activities for young women to help them aspire to and achieve their personal and academic best. The spiritual and faith-based activities at Highland Study Center are entrusted to Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church. During each session, Highland’s chaplain is available for those who want to receive spiritual guidance. This spiritual component is optional and not required to fully participate in The Avenue. The Avenue welcomes young women of all races, creeds, and ethnic backgrounds.
