Education and Academia
Past Sessions
2019-2020
Rebecca Sullivan, a Ph.D. student in the Philosophy and Educational department at Teachers College, Columbia University, presented on the role of education and academia through the example of two important characters in Dante’s Inferno: Virgil and Dante. Their relationship as teacher and student shows how teaching is not so much about the subject at hand but about the person. Teachers have a special role in helping students both develop their character and their mind.
